It is very important that coach and coachee can work together!
Making sure that we can operate as a team is the first critical step in the coaching process.
To find out if we can, we’ll have a conversation, face-to-face or by phone, lasting anywhere from 60 minutes to 90 minutes. We coaches call this a chemistry call. This is complementary.
There are three key elements that I look for in the call.
- Connection – a natural connection between both parties.
- Rapport – being in tune with the other person, or being on the same wavelength.
- Intention – a real commitment to the coaching process.
I recommend that you speak to several potential coaches before you make a choice. Follow your gut instinct in picking the best coach for you – one that will suit your needs.
Ethics
In the UK there is no governing standard of ethics for coaches. Therefore, I base my professional standards on the International Coach Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics.
